Here's a homemade recipe for Apple Cake:
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- 2 cups of peeled, cored, and chopped apples (about 2 medium-sized apples)
For the Topping:
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans, optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch square baking pan or a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set this dry mixture aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the cake batter. If you're using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs clinging to it.
- Allow the apple cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then remove it from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice and serve your delicious homemade Apple Cake!
This moist and flavorful apple cake is a perfect dessert for any occasion, and it's especially delightful with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
