Apple Cake Recipe




Here's a homemade recipe for Apple Cake:

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of sour cream
  • 2 cups of peeled, cored, and chopped apples (about 2 medium-sized apples)
For the Topping:
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans, optional)
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x9-inch square baking pan or a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set this dry mixture aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chopped apples.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it out evenly.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the cake batter. If you're using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few crumbs clinging to it.
  • Allow the apple cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then remove it from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
